We grow weary from the journey and start a dangerous descent.

The atmosphere of sin causes us to stumble and fall. The wind currents of life lift us up and drag us down. Our spiritual flight has many ups and downs. God reminded Israel of His powerful acts in Egypt and of his demonstration of the same love, care, and protection as a mother eagle in delivering them from slavery and through the Red Sea. God uses that beautiful picture of love, care, and protection to describe His relationship with Israel. So the mother eagle flies under her young with wings spread out in order to catch them when they “stumble” or tire. A “stumble” for a young eagle learning to fly sends it plummeting to a deadly landing. Learning to walk is treacherous enough, but a stumble simply sends a toddler to the ground. I encourage you to continue to mediate on Isa 40:31 for the rest of the day.You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.įor a young eagle, flying is an acquired skill with some potential failures along the way.

And I learnt the importance of depending on the Lord for His strength for every situation. He showed the verse in Exodus 19:4 “You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” Upon receiving this Word from the Lord, I understood the Lord had been strengthening for all these times. He showed me that it is not my own determination, faith or strength that I could hang on for so long. Finally, after the prayer was answered, God taught me a very precious lesson. During the three long years, the Lord repeatedly send His promises in the Word through sermons, prophetic words and dreams to spur me on. There was a time when I persevered to pray for more than 3 years until the request was answered. We must learn to depend on His strength to run the race He has set out for us. In our spiritual journey, God does not want us to depend on our own natural strength to carry out His supernatural work. Isa 40:31b says believers shall mount up like eagles, they shall run and not weary, they shall walk and not faint. There is an amazing incident recorded in 1 Ki 18:46, By the Lord’s strength, Elijah outran the chariots of King Ahab pulled by horses. This speaks of believers to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting and acting in obedience. Rom 8:14 tells us that we must be sons and daughters of God who are led by His Holy Spirit. Just like the eagle waiting and sensing the coming of the thermal air currents and launch out at the well-timed moment. There is time of waiting and also an expectation that His Spirit will instruct us to launch out according to His timing. To wait upon the Lord is to seek him and wait for the prompting by His Spirit to move to action. Waiting upon the Lord is both passive and active. It has the meaning of waiting and look for something expectantly. Likewise, let us learn to pray to the Lord to give us spiritual perception and see things the way He wants us to see. Elisha prayed that God would open the servant’s eyes to see that God had sent his angels on horses and chariots of fire protecting them. In 2 Kings 6:16, 17, Elisha and his servant were surrounded by an army on horses and chariots coming to capture them.

We must ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten our eyes to see things from His perspective. Many believers fall into discouragement because they look at their circumstances with natural eyes. The first point I wish to share is on the subject of vision.

It is estimated that the eagle can see eight times further than human eyes can. From the great heights, they can see every clearly the movement of their prey on the ground. Their gliding speeds can reach up to 70 km/h and diving speed 150 km/h.Įagles also have extremely powerful and clear vision. They are swift and powerful birds, and can soar to a height of 3000 km. I wish to start off by sharing some facts of the American bald eagle. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint.” I will read Isa 40:31 “They who wait upon the Lord, shall mount up with wings like eagles.
